Why an E-Portfolio?

Writing your own story – E-portfolios in a postgraduate degree

Hello to everyone,

Currently I am working as a Business Process Manager in an international company, producing household and medical appliances. Mainly I am collecting the business requirements from our subsidiaries and designing the perfect process flow together with my IT-colleagues within our systems.

E-portfolios are overall a good tool to demonstrate soft and technical skills, but also reflect the learning pathway of a student. Furthermore, it shows the ability of self-reflection and critical thinking not only to a future employer but also to tutors and students (El-Senousy, 2020). Having this in mind, I would be very happy to create my own E-portfolio, to showcase my learning enthusiasm and professional skills.

For me personally, it would be very easy to showcase different projects I am working on or already worked on and maintaining the portfolio as I am a very eager person. But on the other hand, as I am not currently working in the IT sector, it may be challenging to initially set up an e-portfolio and further demonstrate that I have the skillset of a postgraduate student. Therefore, I would focus on proving my problem-solving skills in IT projects, then integrating various media formats to express my variability and lastly summing up my educational learning from my Master’s programme (Abu Ziden et al., 2020).

Overall, I am willing to write my own story, with establishing my own e-portfolio during my degree programme at University of Essex.
